LoboConnect is a new web-based tool that connects students, faculty and staff in network of support, focused on student success. LoboConnect creates a centralized place to make advising and Career Center appointments, communicating with staff and accessing other support services. Starting in the Fall 2019 semester current undergraduate students and faculty advisors will gain access to LoboConnect. A number of offices around campus are already using LoboConnect.
The Advising Redesign is intended to create a model of advising to support every lower-division student with the goal of increasing graduation rates and eliminating the achievement gap for Pell Eligible and underrepresented minority students. In pursuit of these ambitions, Sonoma State University has worked over the past year to redesign the advising model. This new model, which is being implemented in Fall 2019, will provide each student under 60 units with a team of professional academic advisors consisting of a faculty advisor and professional academic advisor.
Did you know that you need to take 15 units a semester to graduate on time (i.e., two years for transfer students or four years for first-time freshmen)? On average students who take at least 15 units a term at Sonoma State University on have higher GPA’s, higher persistence rates, and are more likely to graduate on time.
Persistence is defined as continued enrollment (or degree completion) at any institution. In order for Sonoma State University students to persist towards on-time graduation, it is important to register for courses in their academic plan each semester. Reenrollment Quest is an initiative where professional academic advisors proactively reach out to students to assist them with registration for the next semester, identifying and removing holds, and guiding their choices to promote persistence.
AdmitHub is a chatbot with which Sonoma State University students can send questions via text to get answers 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. AdmitHub will go live Fall 2019 for Sonoma State University students. This chatbot will benefit the university by improving yield and reducing summer melt, providing students with personalized engagement through nudges and guidance, increasing persistence, and streamlining workflows and building staff efficiency.
